TIP OF THE MONTH ~ FEBRUARY 2012

TIP:  No man stands so tall as when he stoops to help a child. 

TO-DO:  Stoop down and have a conversation with a child at eye level.  Watch their eyes light up at how much you care.


TIP OF THE MONTH ~ JANUARY 2012

TIP:  By the road of by-and-by we reach the road of NEVER.

TO-DO:  Those "someday I will..." thoughts usually turn into "I really should have..."  What might you regret never having done?  Do it or schedule it.


TIP OF THE MONTH ~ DECEMBER 2011

TIP:  The only person who is happy with change is a baby with a wet diaper.  ~ Mark Twain

TO-DO:  Holiday hustle and bustle can be an unsettling time for children.  Keep their schedule as normal as possible and make sure they get enough rest.


TIP OF THE MONTH ~ NOVEMBER 2011

TIP:  If your daily dose of laughs is less than fifteen (including at least three belly laughs) then you're underlaughed.  ~ Dr. Weisinger

TO-DO:  Check your laugh-life.  If you cry more than you laugh, maybe it's time to see a reputable Christian counselor.


TIP OF THE MONTH ~ OCTOBER 2011

TIP:  Live each day as though it were the last day on earth.

TO-DO:  Is there someone you have been meaning to tell about Jesus?  Pray about it, then look for an opportunity to do it today!


TIP OF THE MONTH ~ SEPTEMBER 2011

TIP:  Never handle a piece of paper more than once without making a decision about it.

TO-DO:  Try the Chicken Pox test:  Put a dot in a corner of a piece of paper each time you pick it up.  If it begins to look like it has chicken pox, you are mishandling it!

TIP:  Not all stress is undesirable.

TIP:  Backwards planning makes good sense. 

TO-DO:  Set a deadline and then work backwards on your calendar to schedule the steps needed to meet that date.

TIP:  Tired of being interrupted by "Ma Bell?"

TO-DO:  Let your answering machine be your receptionist today and enjoy uninterrupted time.  (The same is true for your email & texting interruptions - turn off the sound and/or move away from the computer or phone while you work on other things.)

TO-DO:  Picture one clean room.  Begin picking up in one corner and work your way around the room until you have achieved what you conceived.


TIP OF THE MONTH ~ APRIL 2011

TIP:  "Be prepared!"

TO-DO:  Make and take a "waiting time tote" for yourself and the kids.  Include things like mending, magazines, books and correspondence supplies for yourself; toys, coloring books and crayons for the kids.

TIP:  An uncluttered house looks cleaner than a clean house that's cluttered.

TO-DO:  Has the stack of dirty dishes, the monthly report, or the pile of laundry vanished?  Do it or delegate it!

TIP:  Life must be measured by thought and action, not by time. 

TO-DO:  Do some planned-and some random-acts of kindness:  bring a meal to a new mom, play Scrabble with someone who is homebound, mow the lawn for a new neighbor.

TO-DO:  Three weeks of continuous practice makes an activity a habit.  Make yours good, strong habits:  de-junking, using to-do lists, putting everything in their right place, exercise, quiet times, prayer... Which will you start today?
